Virginie le Brun, daughter of 12th generation winemaker Daniel Le Brun, will be pouring their delicious Marlborough Traditional Method sparkling wines.

She will be pouring 4 different cuveés, and the wines will be available for purchase both on site or via pre-order.

No.1 Assemblé (pronounced “ah-som-blay”), means to bring together, to blend and to unite. The structure of Chardonnay, the finesse of Pinot Noir and the softness of Meunier have been brought together for a minimum of 18 months on lees, in the classic Méthode Traditionelle style, to create a wine with elegance, complexity and wide appeal.  No. 1 Assemblé is fresh and inviting with sophisticated and typical characters and intense flavours.

No.1 Cuvée was the first wine produced by No.1 Family Estate. It is renowned throughout New Zealand and is winner of multiple International Trophies, Gold Medals and Five Star Awards since its release. Made from 100% Chardonnay, this Blanc de Blancs was held on lees for 2 years, encouraging full yeast autolysis. The resulting wine displays typical, complex, champagne-like characters.  No. 1 Cuvée is one of New Zealand's most highly regarded Méthode Traditionelle wines.

No. 1 Rosé is made from 100% Pinot Noir and celebrates the superb climate of Marlborough. This graceful wine leaves a lasting impression – delicate salmon-pink with a mass of tiny bubbles. Dry, yet fresh and elegant, this wine leaves a lasting impression of opulence and splendour.

No. 1 Reserve. Each year, a limited amount of their No.1 Cuvée is set aside for long-term aging on lees and released after several years – giving it the title “Reserve.” This release of the No.1 Reserve is limited to 1000 bottles, each of which have been individually hand numbered and hand labelled.  Intensely flavoured and focused with a good fruit-yeast balance providing elegance and style.

More about No. 1 Family Estate
For almost 40 years, champagne maker Daniel Le Brun has had one goal: to make Méthode Traditionelle wines that rival the best in the world and to do it in Marlborough, New Zealand.

The first record of a Le Brun planting vines in France is from 1684 and the family still produce Méthode Traditionelle under their own labels in France.

From a young age, Daniel was immersed in the family business but after studying winemaking at university, he emigrated to New Zealand and bought his first block of land in Renwick in Marlborough's Wairau Valley.

No. 1 Family Estate was established in 1997 and is Daniel and Adele Le Brun's second New Zealand venture. While Daniel makes the wine, Adele provides the business and marketing flair. The next generation of Le Bruns, son Remy and daughter Virginie, are the faces of the future and are actively involved in building the No. 1 brand across the world.

Since producing his first Méthode Traditionelle wine, No.1 Cuvée, in 1999 there have been many awards and accolades for their wines and winemaker, including Daniel's awards for his services to France - New Zealand relations and agriculture: the National Order of Merit, France’s most honoured non-military medal, and the Order of Merit for services to agriculture.
